Nick Shirley Uncovers the Rise of Communism Inside the US

Something has changed in America’s largest city. Ideas that were considered extreme ten years ago, like abolishing prisons, taking private property, and having government-run grocery stores, are now being discussed as real policies. Nick Shirley wanted to find out how common these views had become. He took a microphone and walked through Greenwich Village, asking people one question: what do you think about the rise of communism inside America? Watch the full video from Nick below on YouTube.

Many younger New Yorkers, especially students, told Nick that capitalism no longer works for them. They mentioned things like a $7 bagel, a $12 beer, high rent that takes most of their paycheck, and a minimum wage that does not cover groceries. One woman called this “late-stage capitalism.” She praised Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialists of America member, for freezing rent, promising free buses, and suggesting government-run grocery stores. But in reality, not much of this has happened. Free groceries don’t exist yet and free buses have not started. Even supporters admitted this when Nick asked.

People who had lived under these systems spoke from experience. A woman from Russia said young Americans learn about fascism but not communism, and have never seen “the piles of skulls.” A veteran from Peru said he saw what these ideas did to his country and warned that Americans take their freedom for granted. A businessman said the term “democratic socialist” is just a softer name for the same idea, and argued that you cannot vote away property rights.

Nick kept coming back to the question that guides the majority of his work. When people said the solution was to tax the rich and share the money, he asked something else. What if the country stopped fraud first? Would there be enough money without raising taxes?

The reactions were telling. One man waved the idea away, saying that because “some thieves are stealing some stuff,” there is no reason to stop taxing and helping people. Another agreed with Nick outright, saying the country should eliminate the fraud in programs “that are not hitting who needs it.” It is a fair thing to ask in a city where Nick has already documented adult daycares billing Medicaid for seniors who never showed up.

An NYU professor told Nick that these were social justice and left-liberal views, not communism, and that his question only made sense if you thought they were the same. Some younger New Yorkers said communism was not actually becoming more popular. Nick included these answers with the others, which was the whole point of asking.

In all, one side wants to raise taxes and spend more. The other side, including people who left the systems now being praised, wants the government to explain where the current money goes first. That is the question Nick has focused on for the past year. Communism might be rising in New York, or it might not. But as Nick has shown many times, the fraud is already here.

This week, Nick Shirley brought two gifts to the Capitol for Rep. Ilhan Omar: a copy of “Accounting for Dummies” and a T-shirt that says “Learing Center,” which you can purchase directly on Shop.AntiFraudClub.com.

In our earlier reporting in April, Omar’s 2024 financial disclosure first showed up to $30 million in assets linked to two companies owned by her husband, Tim Mynett. On March 26, she changed the filing and removed those assets. Her reported assets then dropped to between $18,004 and $95,000. Her office said this was due to an accounting error and stated the congresswoman “is not a millionaire.”

In the first filing, Mynett’s company Rose Lake Capital was valued at up to $25 million but showed no income. In the revised filing, its value was listed as “None,” but its partnership income increased to as much as $1 million. The second company, a winery named ESTCRU, was listed at up to $5 million, even though court records showed it only had $650 in the bank. Nine days after Omar signed the amendment, Mynett’s business partner moved to dissolve the company.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer has asked for business records from both of Mynett’s companies, saying the sudden change in value “raises concerns that unknown individuals may be investing to gain influence” with Omar. Omar filed her amendment only after the House Office of Congressional Conduct reached out to her. Majority Whip Tom Emmer has called for an Ethics Committee investigation, and Republicans have said they do not see the revised form as the end of the issue.

Omar represents Minnesota, the state at the center of an estimated $9 billion in suspected social services fraud, much of it run through daycares and nonprofits with wholesome names like “Learing Center”. Omar has not responded to questions about these filings. When reporters have asked her about them, she has chosen not to comment.

Nick Shirley lasted roughly 3 minutes inside MacArthur Park in Los Angeles before the wild drug addicts running it forced him out. The full video is insane:

Nick entered MacArthur Park and began filming what tax paying locals already see every day. People were using drugs at the bus stop, and others had their drugs openly displayed on park benches. He pointed out a man in a wheelchair and explained that drug users in these areas often lose limbs, which he said can happen when fentanyl cuts off circulation. Within minutes, a dealer approached him. “Don’t show people this,” the man said. Nick was then chased out.

Earlier this spring, the DEA and LAPD raided MacArthur Park, charging 25 people and seizing about 40 pounds of fentanyl. Prosecutors linked the drugs to the 18th Street Gang. Federal documents say the park is contested by three gangs, including MS-13. The government itself described it as an open-air drug market “long an area run by gang members and homeless drug users.” Nick’s video shows exactly what that means.

It’s hard not to wonder how a major city allows a park to end up like this. California has spent a lot on homelessness and addiction, but with little to show for it. A 2024 state audit found that California spent $24 billion on homelessness programs over five years, but since June 2021, the state stopped tracking whether these efforts were working. Of the programs reviewed, $9.4 billion couldn’t be evaluated because there was no data. That’s $24 billion spent, and no one can say what most of it accomplished. MacArthur Park is a visible result.
