BREAKING: President Trump Invites Nick Shirley Inside the Oval Office

President Trump welcomed Nick Shirley into the Oval Office this afternoon. “I’d give him a big hug today,” Trump said. “He’s done an amazing job.” Trump also said, “What a job you’ve done as a young guy. A very young guy.” Watch the video below.

Trump told the room Nick used his “popular YouTube channel” to show that fraudsters in Minneapolis were stealing “billions and billions of dollars” in taxpayer money through fraudulent child care centers and other scams. Trump credited Nick’s work as part of the reason 115 Minnesota fraudsters have been arrested and charged since he took office.

Trump also brought up the misspelled sign at the Quality Learing Center, one of the daycares in Nick’s video. “Remember the Learing?” Trump asked. “They were teaching people, but they couldn’t spell the name.” He asked Nick whether the sign caught his attention. “Yeah, I couldn’t believe it when I saw it,” Nick said. Trump’s verdict: “That was not good for them when they put that sign up.”

Nick was then able to share some of his own words from the Oval Office. “As a 24-year-old, I went out and exposed the fraud. I was just concerned about how our tax dollars were being used.” Ten months after his Minnesota daycare video went viral, Nick was, in his own words, “standing next to the President of the United States.”

Nick was most critical of the mainstream media. “Instead of the mainstream media investigating the fraud, they investigated me,” he said. “And people actually, in fact, wanted to kill me after I exposed the fraud.” President Trump asked if that surprised him, Nick said, “I was very surprised.” Nick also criticized the reporters who simply called the Quality Learing Center and asked if it was committing fraud. “That was the extent of their reporting,” Nick said.

Vice President JD Vance said Nick has done more to uncover fraud than any other citizen journalist he has met recently. “Nick is going to get a financial reward for doing so,” Vance said. “I know that’s not why he did it.” The White House said Nick’s reward is $10,000.

Nick explained why rewards are important. “There’s never been incentive for anyone to ever expose fraud,” he said. “But now finally people have an incentive to actually go out, expose fraud, and when you expose fraud, you help save America.” He also reminded everyone who pays the price. Nick said fraudsters take from the poor and needy who rely on taxpayer-funded services, then use the money to buy luxury goods.

The White House said Nick’s reward was based on real results. Fahima Egeh Mahamud, the former CEO of Future Leaders Early Learning Center, one of the daycares in Nick’s video, pleaded guilty in July to wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Prosecutors said she took more than $4.6 million through false child care claims and $850,000 from a federal child nutrition program tied to Feeding Our Future.

The White House also credited Nick’s reporting with helping bring more FBI and Homeland Security resources to Minnesota, which led to investigations, arrests, and new charges.

Nick’s reward was announced along with a new $25 million Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, launched with the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud led by Vance. The Justice Department will run the program, and tips can be submitted at fraud.gov. According to the White House, a tip that leads to a successful fraud conviction or a major federal enforcement action can pay up to $30,000.

The White House said the program aims to encourage independent journalists and everyday Americans to report fraud, just as Nick has done since his work in Minnesota.
